AMERICA, along with

photography Cari Lutz (center)
were awarded the 2007 Roy

Sold in America is a modernday
tale of sex slavery that
weaves the stories of women
sold in the United States at an
early age and their struggle to
find freedom. In this characterdriven
documentary, we see
how these women leave
behind their harrowing past
and become survivors who are
now fighting to change the
laws that shield the traffickers
as well as helping to free those
still entrapped.

Thank you for your compelling stories. I have had a marvelous time reviewing your films and I sincerely appreciate the opportunity to get to know you and your films through our grant. I also appreciate your kind donations to the grant.
The list of names are the finalists. Please do not be discouraged if your name is not on this list. Tenacity is the backbone of the filmmaker. Keep trying for my grant, other grants, funding parties, NYSCA, leave no stone unturned.
I promised to give you a personal consultation so please email me with a time that you can call me in California, preferably from 2 to 5PM LA time. I need your name and the grant you applied for and I will email back with a confirmation. Caroleedean@att.net
We can talk about funding or improving your proposal or whatever you want. Remember, funding starts in your mind, so just continue to keep the faith and stay in the flow; use your mind to create your film through your belief.
Visualize your film from beginning to end. See the credits as you sit back in a posh chair at Raleigh Studios screening room and watch as the lights go down and your film comes up. Feel the emotions of pride, excitement, relief and success at the completion of your film.
This visualization into the future can create the present. That’s right. Daydreaming is in. Go into the future and create the present, it works! Doors begin to open that were never there before.
Keep trying. Enter this grant again, search for more grants, do funding parties, networking parties and leave no stone unturned. There is money for your film; you need to know your film will be completed.
If your name is not on this list, please do not be disheartened. Keep entering this grant and other grants, perseverance is part of filmmaking. If you are not creating a pile of rejections, you are not doing your job! It was the third submission that won for several of our successful grant winners.
I promised each of you a 15 minute consultation and you can call me any day from 3pm to 5pm LA time from July 20 till August 20. If I miss your call, just leave me a message with your name and the best time to call you back. I can be reached at 805 984 0098, Oxnard, California.
