This class is designed to work with you personally to fund your film. We either create or improve the funding materials you need for the foundation of your film, your pitch, your proposal or outline, your trailer and many things in between. Why 3 classes? Well, I decided one day seminars are like a hit-and-run. I give scores of ideas and information and then leave you to do it all alone. That's not what I want to do. I like to work with you, listen to your concept of the film and help you find your own pitch and the outstanding outline inside a great package. Together you, the class, and I work on your project to bring it to a higher level.
Funders know when you are dancing around an idea for a film and you can't get money until you can clearly see your project, know the story points, understand the heart of the film and know how to visually tell your story. This is what I want you to achieve in the 3 sessions.
Besides the class, I will work with you personally from my home, on the phone or even in person. You will be able to send me your newest version of your proposal or outline and I will zap it back via email with suggestions and we can have personal discussions via phone. You can call me to give me your most current pitch and discuss your personal fears and talk about what you need to do to raise the money and make your special film.
We have a special guest speaker for you on the May 31 class. Our guest will be Bill Woolery, trailer editor and donor to the Roy W. Dean film grants. Bill will show us trailers and give advice on what to shoot and how to use existing footage to create an effective fund raising trailer. He can answer your questions and you can show him your trailers or get personal advice for your film, check him out: www.Divertimento-Prods.com

April 4th David Raiklen, composer will be there to answer your questions on about music for films. What you need and where to get it.
The second edition of The Art of Film Funding book has great ideas o funding your book and you can receive this when you enroll. You will focus on, how to pitch in front of people without freezing, how to ask for discounts and donations and get them, how to contact your potential funders and what to say to make that special connection. You know the myriad of things needed to fund your film, well; we will cover as many as possible during this course. Most of all you will be in a comfortable place to relax and make some mistakes and learn from each other.
You will get two books free, The Art of Film Funding and The Art of Manifesting: Creating your Future. I want to work on both sides of your brain. We can't make things happen (manifest) if we don't have a "to do" list and work on it each day. But, our vision of the film and our long term personal vision must be in sync. Bring to the first class: 1. A vision of where you want to be in the industry in 2012. 2. Your purpose as a filmmaker in one strong sentence. 3. A log line for your film
During this seminar we will:
- Create clearly defined goals
- Make an action list
- Learn the art of pitching
- Understand what makes a great trailer
|
- Set time limits for achievement
- Create money-making proposals
- Make lists of funding for your particular film
- Gain faith and confidence
|
The cost is $300.00 for the three sessions and that includes The Art of Film Funding and the Art of Manifesting books. We meet on 4/5, 4/26
And 5/31, from 9:30 to 3:30, this is 3 Saturdays at The Lost Studios 130 South LaBrea between first and second Streets in Hollywood. If for any reason you can't make one class, I can work with you personally to cover what you missed.

Testimonials:
The Trailblazers Class is fantastic! It was both uplifting to be in a group of like-minded filmmakers and life-changing to be guided by Carole Dean. This class is for anyone needing a mental cleansing and positive push towards excellence.
--Alison Wolf
"Carole Dean's Trailblazer class was literally an answer to prayer. Carole's experience in the industry, teaching ability, hospitality, and heart for the independent filmmaker provided the additional encouragement and motivation I needed to continue moving forward with my next feature film."
--Marc Anthony Massimei
"Just one meeting has sent me in a new direction with strength and passion. My planning stages have evolved and my projects are growing, the joy of manifesting is truly the payoff."
--Sheryl Dolley
"Beforehand, I expected the class would only be about "hard skills" such as how to write a proposal, prepare a budget, or cut a promo trailer. The class was more about a filmmaker's frame of mind, manifesting their future, and opening up to the possibilities of the universe. Instead of being disappointed, I was delighted. This was a much more important and difficult thing to learn. Carole certainly delivers resources needed to accomplish the concrete tasks at hand - she and her colleagues are extremely generous in passing on information. It is the lessons on manifesting our films that have made all the difference! On the eve of our last class, shooting is almost complete and I am working at a studio editing a promotional trailer with more content than I ever thought possible! I am leaps closer to finishing my film!"
